Hot on the heels of a camera related controversy that broke out yesterday, Huawei has pushed out an OTA update that brings improvements to the camera performance, amongst other changes. For anyone wondering, it is highly unlikely that the OTA update would be in light of the Moon Mode controversy, given than OTA updates are generally under development and testing for a long period of time before they are pushed out.
The OTA update focusses on three distinct areas of the smartphone; the camera, the fingerprint sensor and the display. The update is said to improve the night mode on the camera, a feature that was already leaving everyone in the tech community impressed. There will also be an improvement in the result of the superzoom feature.
The fingerprint sensor has been tweaked as well, with improved unlock sensitivity and unlock timing. The result should be faster unlocking. The last series of updates have also made the audio and video sync much more efficient and playing Instagram videos recorded in hands-free mode has become smoother. This update also now enables three-way message notification - the screen is always displayed, and the third-party application message function can be displayed in the new screen-out scenario.
The Huawei P30 Pro is the company’s flagship camera-centric device, offering the first 5x optical zoom in a smartphone along with 10x hybrid zoom. The camera combines information from the 40-megapixel primary camera and the 8-megapixel telephoto lens to yield a 50x digital zoom. Huawei also introduced a new RYYB sensor with the Huawei P30 Pro, which allows the camera to produce some stunning photos in low light, without even using the night mode. In our review of the camera, we did note that this was a smartphone that sets the benchmark for smartphone photography.
