Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi launched two phones last week, the Redmi 7 and the Redmi Y3. The Redmi 7 is offered in 2GB RAM and 32GB storage option, which is priced at Rs 7,999, and the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version that will cost buyers Rs 8,999. The device will go on its first sale today at 12 pm on Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi homes. At the launch of the phone, the company announced that it will soon be available on Mi Studio, Mi Stores and Mi preferred partner stores. Redmi tied-up with Reliance Jio, and Jio users can get double data for up to 4 years, and Rs 2,400 cashback.
Redmi 7 specifications:The Redmi 7 was launched in China before it came to India last week. It is targeted at people who seek a feature-full device that doesn’t burn a hole in their pockets. Under the hood, the Redmi 7 ships with Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor with an option to choose from two storage and RAM variants. The phone comes with 4000mAh battery, and the phone comes bundled with 18W charger. The phone comes with a dot-notch that house the front shooter. The Redmi 7 runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
The Redmi 7 features a 6.26-inch HD+ display that offers an aspect ratio of 19:9. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack on top and a fingerprint sensor on the back panel. The P2i coated back panel has the “Redmi by Xiaomi” branding on it. In the camera department, the Redmi 7 sports a 12MP primary sensor with 1.25um pixel size and 1/2.9 aperture lens. There is a 2MP secondary depth sensor, and the camera setup comes with AI features. On the front is an 8MP camera, which is housed in the Dot Notch.
In our first impressions, we found that the phone lacks lustre in performance and camera departments. Of course we’ll be testing the phone for an in-depth review to deliver a concrete verdict, but for Rs 7,999, there are other options to explore as well.
