Honor is preparing to launch the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro in London on May 21. Ahead of the launch, multiple leaks have hinted at the specs of the two camera-heavy smartphones. The India launch of the Honor 20 series has now been confirmed by the company, which, as per the official launch invite shared with Digit, will happen on June 11. Earlier, the launch was confirmed without a date in a letter sent by Honor India President, Charles Peng. In his letter, Peng writes about striving for “better” because “better is a moving target.'' He stresses on the need to better products, brand experience, technology, and design, in what reads like a mission statement for the Huawei sub-brand.
Confirming the India launch of the Honor 20 series, Peng notes, “You deserve better and striving for better has yielded in one of the most exciting new launches - the stunning new Honor 20 series that we will be announcing shortly.” Although Peng did not confirm the availability of the two phones, we expect to hear more about the launch of the devices at the London lauch on May 21.
The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will be two added installments of the 20-series lineup, after the company unveiled the Honor 20i in China, back in April. Both phones are expected to be powered by Huawei’s flagship Kirin 980 chipset as opposed to Kirin 710 on the Honor 20i.
In terms of specifications, the Honor 20 is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED Waterdrop screen with the sixth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor. It could get a 3,650 mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. Putting cameras front and centre of the offering, the Honor 20 could get a 32MP front camera, same as the Honor 20i, and a triple camera setup on the back with 48MP + 20MP + 8MP sensors.
The Honor 20 Pro is also expected to get a punch-hole display, 6.5-inches in size, with the selfie shooter placed on the top left corner of the screen. Instead of three cameras, the Honor 20 Pro might feature a quad-cam setup at the back, assisted by AI Vision. The phone is rumoured to feature the Sony IMX600 40-megapixel camera sensor that’s also found on the Huawei P30 Pro. The battery size on the pro version is expected to be larger, with a 4,000 mAh power source.
