Rumours are rife about Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro. There are already speculative reports about the alleged device and now, another report has claimed that the notebook will be launched in October and may cost about $3000. Just like it was previously speculated, the latest report says that the laptop will tout an LCD display instead of an OLED panel. Moreover, the display is said to be provided by LG and deliver a resolution of 3072 x 1920 pixels. The laptop will apparently be assembled by Quanta and Foxconn.
One report had claimed that the iPhone-maker is developing a 16-inch Macbook Pro with an OLED panel and that it would launch it in the first half of 2021. However, London-based IHS Markit said that Apple would launch this particular notebook with an LCD display in September if there’s no unexpected development issue. “We foresee that Apple will release a new product [at the] Sep’19 Apple event if there’s no unexpected development issue,” Forbes quoted Jeff Lin, Associate Director, Consumer Electronics at IHS Markit, as saying, in its IHS Markit Q1’19 Mobile PC Market Tracker.
Lin’s speculations about the 16-inch MacBook Pro were a little different from the claims made by well-known industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He said that among other devices, the MacBook Pro was likely to come equipped with mini-LED panels, which is a display technology that covers a larger colour space. He also said that these displays are touted to deliver local dimming features with high dynamic range and contrast.
Lin also said that Apple is expected to update the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and Retina MacBook Air with the new MacOS Catalina and new processors in September. Tech news publication 9To5Mac spotted a new MacBook Pro model on a regulatory body’s website. The platform says that an Apple laptop has been filed in an application to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the document says that this device will feature a 13-inch display.
