There have been rumours about an upcoming 5G phone from Xiaomi for some time now. It was being said that the Xiaomi 5G phone would be the next Mi Mix phone. However, according to a new report, the device bearing the model number M1908F1XE could actually be a 5G version of the already-existing Xiaomi Mi 9.

According to Xiaomi tipster Xiomishka, a source informed them that the new Xiaomi Mi 9 variant could have 5G on board along with several other key upgrades. The device is said to sport a 2K display, have OIS on the rear camera setup, and pack a bigger battery. Moreover, the Mi 9 5G is said to have support for 45W fast charging. It could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 9 was launched earlier this year, in February. It features a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED (1080 x 2340 pixels) display under the protection of Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with Adreno 640. It has up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage.
On the optics front, the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a triple rear camera setup: a primary Sony IMX586 48MP sensor with 0.8 µm pixel pitch and a 1/2-inch image sensor + a 12MP f/2.2 telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and a 16MP sensor with a 117-degree wide viewing angle. The camera setup features laser autofocus with PDAF and CDAF support. As for the front camera, it has a 20MP sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes equipped with the Game Turbo feature that enables users to monitor CPU/GPU/FPS in real-time. The smartphone has Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB Type-C connectors.
