Samsung is likely to launch its next foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip alongside the Galaxy S20 series on February 11. As we are nearing the launch date, details of the device have been making the rounds on the internet. Earlier this week, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was certified by China's 3C regulatory body. Now, a new report has revealed the alleged battery capacity of Samsung’s next foldable phone.
According to a tweet from XDA-Developers’ Max Weinbach, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will feature an ultra-thin glass display with a plastic layer on top. The additional plastic layer is said to ensure the display is not scratched easily. Further, he says that the Galaxy Z Flip will pack a 3300mAh battery which is a significant drop from the Galaxy Fold’s 4380mAh battery. But then, the Galaxy Z Flip is likely to be a clamshell device with a smaller display on the body. To compare, Motorola Razr (2019) packs a 2510mAh battery.
The Galaxy Flip Z has a 3300 mAh battery. Along with the Snapdragon 855, this should be pretty ok in everything. About the same battery live as the mid size S10.
— Max Weinbach (@MaxWinebach) January 14, 2020The Samsung Galaxy Z is tipped to be powered by last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. It is rumoured to sport a 10MP selfie shooter, which is likely to borrow its hardware from the 10MP selfie camera on the Galaxy Note10. The foldable phone is said to turn to ultra-thin glass as the display covering. It is said to reduce, if not eliminate, the crease.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is rumoured to be made available for sale "immediately" after its official unveiling. However, whether or not it will go on sale in markets outside South Korea before the end of February is not yet known.
Samsung could launch the Galaxy Z Flip alongside the Galaxy S20 trio that is expected to come in 6.2/6.4 inches, 6.7 inches, 6.9 inches display sizes.
