As we head towards the end of the lockdown, it’s still very clear that working from home has become a part and parcel of this new existence. And owing to that Goggle has changed Hangouts and renamed it Google Meet. The company has made a conscious push towards Google Meet being the premier video conferencing app. Google has rolled out Meet to G suite users and expects it to take on companies like Zoom.

As we reported earlier, Google Meet was planning on adopting a Zoom-like grid system that allows 16 people to join in on the call simultaneously. The number of people on a single call was limited to only four but the company has now extended that and allowed 16 people to join in on a single call. This is ideal for office meeting and larger conferences. The company has also delivered on its promise of better call quality in terms of video conferencing. Users can also just share a Chrome tab rather than share their entire screen. Other features include a low-light mode that uses AI to automatically adjust the visibility during dimly lit situations or environments. The low-light mode is currently being rolled out and will be available rather soon.

Google has also ensured that background noise will now be filtered out using noise cancellation techniques and such. This particular option will begin rolling out in the next few weeks to G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers, starting with web users. Mobile users will be receiving the update a little later.
