Following the massive WhatsApp outage a few days back, Instagram has also undergone a noticeable global outage. Although the social media app had reportedly had its second outage, this one, in particular, was concerning as following it, some folks' accounts were appearing as suspended. Well, the issue has been addressed and fixed by Meta. Still, for the unversed, here's what actually happened and how Instagrammers reacted to the whole incident on Twitter.

We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown

First, we got a response from Instagram Comms’ Twitter handle and it only addressed the issue and said they are working on it.

Meanwhile, people started to appeal to Instagram to recover their suspended accounts. Just so you know, this could be done via the Instagram app (when prompted that your account is disabled, just click the Learn More link and follow the on-screen instructions), or by dropping an appeal form or email to Instagram (support@instagram.com).

If your account’s been disabled, there’s a new way to appeal in the app. When you try to log in, you’ll see an option to “Request a Review.” Tap it and we’ll review your disabled account and potentially restore it. We'll roll out these features over the coming weeks. pic.twitter.com/W9r6B7dpau

However, you may not have to deal with it all, as the brand has claimed to have fixed the issue and as you recover your account, any dip in follower count, that you may have suffered, should also be resolved.

Here’s what Instagram has to say about the issue: "We’ve resolved this bug now – it was causing people in different parts of the world to have issues accessing their accounts and caused a temporary change for some in number of followers. Sorry!"
