Twitter’s employees are waiting for the company’s email

As per a New York Times report, the Twitter chief also asked managers to prepare job cut lists and monitor the staff thoroughly, following which 7,500 employees from Twitter braced for layoffs. A recent report from Reuters throws more light on the type of conditions that prevail in Twitter offices, from San Francisco to Singapore. 

As per the latest report from Reuters, "Twitter Inc will tell employees by email on Friday [November 4, 2022] about whether they have been laid off." The emails will hit employees' inboxes by 9 AM Pacific Time, which translates to 09:30 PM IST. The news agency cites an email sent to Twitter employees on Thursday. 

In the email, Twitter writes that it will "go through the difficult path" of reducing its workforce to place itself on a healthy path. The company might also close its offices temporarily and prevent staff access. Whether the platform is on its way to revolution or not, employees sure are facing a hard time. 

Elon might reduce the workforce to half

According to the internal plans seen by the agency, Musk wants to lay off as many as 3,700 employees, or about half the company's workforce. Additionally, the remaining staff at Twitter would have to follow the new work ethics devised by the billionaire and his work friends from other companies like Tesla and The Boring Company. Nevertheless, Twitter employees must wait a few more hours before they know what their managers have decided for them. 

Reuters also writes that Twitter's employees who were not affected by the layoffs will be notified via their work email addresses. Further, those laid off will be advised of the next steps to their personal email addresses. Some Twitter employees seem to have lost access to the company's IT system, which might indicate that they have been laid off. 

In a related development, Twitter's employees have filed a class action lawsuit against the company, saying that it is conducting mass layoffs without providing a 60-day advance notice, which happens to violate federal law.
