Qualcomm is expected to announce its new Snapdragon processor which will succeed the Snapdragon 855 and 855+ SoCs in November. It is rumoured to be called the Snapdragon 665 and ahead of the official announcement, a luxury smartphone maker from China has announced a device powered by the upcoming chipset. The Chinese luxury smartphone and watchmaker 8848 has launched its new flagship handset called the Titanium M6 5G. First reported by ITHome, the new handset is technically the ‘first’ mobile device to be powered by the new chipset. However, not many details about the processor were unveiled since the phone will be made available in early 2020, when most Snapdragon 865 powered phones are expected to hit the market.

The Titanium M6 5G sports a 6.01-inch AMOLED display and as the name suggests, it supports 5G connectivity. As per the report, there might be two variants of the Snapdragon 865 SoC, one with innate 5G support and one without. The handset is obviously equipped with the SoC that has 5G connectivity and it is paired with 12GB RAM and 1TB of storage. There’s also a 64MP sensor on the back, which is said to be capable of producing 100MP images.

The Snapdragon 865 was previously spotted on Geekbench with the alleged labelling termed ‘Qualcomm Kona.’  While it is not sure if it is the Snapdragon 865, the results did suggest that the new chip is notably more powerful than the Snapdragon 855. The unknown chip scored 4160 in single-core and 12946 in multi-core tests and in contrast, the Snapdragon 855 scores around 3.5k in the single-core test and around 11k in the multi-core test.

The Geekbench ratings suggest that the device’s chipset is paired with 6GB RAM and the handset it is being tested on runs on Android 10. The SoC has 8 cores, and multiple listings of the device show that the processor has a base frequency of 1.8GHz.
